Thai Railways serving the East of Thailand

Eastern Train Lines

Thai Railways Eastern Lines travel East through areas between Bangkok and the Cambodian Border. Most of the popular destinations in Eastern Thailand, such as Ko Chang and Ko Samet are not accessable by rail and Pattaya has limited rail access. There is generally faster, more frequent bus service to these areas. Thai Railways Eastern Line branches off into two main lines at Chachoeng Sao Junction. The North Eastern Line goes to Aranyaprathet, on the Cambodian Border, and the East Coastal Line goes to Sattahip, Pattaya, and Mab Taphud, on the Gulf of Thailand Coast. All Eastern Lines Include Makkasan Station.

Side Notes on Thailand's Eastern Lines

Most of the destinations on Thai Railways Eastern Coastal Line are close to Bangkok. Bus travel is often more convenient and faster than train travel, especially if someone wants to return to Bangkok the same day. Aranyaprathet is the most popular land crossing into Cambodia, convenient for onward travel to Siem Reap (Angkor Wat). At the time of writing, there was no weekend train service to/from Pattaya.
